A female crab hacker barnacle (Sacculina carcini) settles in the gut of a crab and grows tendrils to draw nutrients from the crab’s tissues. To reproduce, this parasite pushes a “sack” (pictured) outside of its host’s abdomen through which tiny males climb in to fertilize eggs. pic.twitter.com/OfCRrx8fYv
